EXPERIENCE:
Finding solutions to challenges keeps life interesting. After a couple years of college and encouragement from one of my professors, I went out into the workforce full-time, at an architectural firm, while finishing my Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Technology through Washington University in St. Louis. Looking back, this was an excellent learning experience because I gained so much more knowledge than if I had only been studying in college. But at the time, I often felt like all I did was eat, sleep, work and study; I didn’t experience the college life most do. After some time in design and architecture, I was ready to expand my knowledge and obtained my real estate license and thereafter worked nights and weekends in residential real estate for about a year before I realized this wasn’t going to work part-time. I then became a full-time commercial property manager managing just under a million square feet of office and flex space for a publicly traded REIT which definitely utilized my problem-solving skills and gave me valuable insight into the financial aspects of owning and operating commercial properties. After this, I moved on to work for a long-time mentor and friend of mine who was a developer. I was responsible for the leasing and management of a 130,000-sf property conversion from office to medical, but this ended sadly and abruptly following the untimely passing away of the developer I often referred to as my “second dad.” That experience was life impacting. I took some time off, but realized it was better to keep busy. I spent the next 14 years focused on commercial sales and lease transactions with a global commercial real estate company. In 2020, it became clear to me, it was time to start my own company and RE-consults was launched.
